Itinerary

  • Days 1-3 Depart from London’s iconic St Pancras station by Eurostar to Paris the city of love and elegance. The recently modernised Hotel Corona Opera is quietly situated in the Grands Boulevard district. Nearby is the Arc de Triumph  leading to the Champ Elysees, for luxury shopping and sightseeing. Visit world renowned museums such as the Musee d’Orsay for Impressionist paintings, and the Louvre is essential for the painting of the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo and many great works of art.
  • Days 3-5 Early morning departure by TGV High Speed train to Barcelona in Spain. Stay at the Jazz hotel with rooftop swimming pool in the famous Ramblas area in the Plaza de Catalunya area..  Easy to reach the unique the Gaudi La Familia Church, the beach at Barcolonetta or the mountains at Montserrrat.
  • Days 5-7 Early Morning start crossing the dramatic South of France coastal landscapes of the Camargue and Cote d’Azure. Stay for 2 nights at the Grand Hotel le Florence, Nice, convenient for the Promenade des Anglais, the celebrated beachfront, or take the lift up to Castle Hill for superb views of the city and coastline.
  • Days 7-9 Mid morning departure for spectacular train ride along the Ligurian coast, passing many tunnels through rocky outcrops to La Spezia, gateway to the Cinque Terre.  Stay at the Firenze Hotel while you explore the 5 villages on this rugged coastline on foot or by train, no cars allowed!
  • Days 9-11 Late afternoon coastal trip to Rome, the eternal city, stay for 2 nights at the Galileo close to the historical centre. Orientate yourself with a sightseeing tour covering the Coliseum, the Roman quarter and St Peter’s Basilica – the wealth of culture is staggering.  The highlight for many visitors on this rail holiday of Europe is visiting the Sistine chapel, one of many amazing rooms on the tour of the Vatican.
  • Days 11-13 High speed train to Venice, a 4 hour journey arriving at Santa Lucia station on the Grand Canal. It’s a short Waterbus ride to your hotel, the La Forcola near St Marks Square, with its bell tower and the Doges Palace. Enjoy a half day boat trip to Murano Island renowned for its glass ware and take home a unique souvenir. In summer,  relax on the beach at Venice Lido just 40 minutes away from St Marks Square.
  • Days 13-15 Dramatic Alpine scenery as the train loops on itself to gain height through breath taking mountains to Lucerne in Switzerland. This picture postcard city with its historic wooden bridges is set on a crystal clear lake surrounded by mountains. Stay at the Hotel Waldstaetterhof close to the train station where you can take a day excursion to Engelberg and Mount Titlis.
  • Days 15-17  Your train will take you to Heidelberg, famous for its Historic university. Stay at the Heidelberg Hotel within walking distance of the iconic castle and bridge.  For a pleasant walk enjoy a stroll along the historic city’s gothic streets.
  • Days 17-19 Direct train ride along the spectacular Rhine valley, acclaimed for its many castles and legends such as the Loreley rock. Stay in Cologne for 2 nights at the Dom Spitzen Hotel. Visit the famous cathedral, take a cruise along the Rhine or enjoy the delights of the Chocolate Museum with demonstrations at the former Stolberg factory.
  • Days 19-21 Direct train to Amsterdam staying at the Nova Hotel close to the station. Take a cruise along the elegant canals lined with merchant’s houses, visit Ann Franks house or the world famous Rijksmuseum.  Recently refurbished, well worth visiting for massive Night Watch painting by Rembrandt.
  • Day 21 End your rail holiday of Europe with a speedy return to London by High Speed Thalys train to Brussels, connecting with the Eurostar back to London.
