At Marseille change to a French TGV train to Nice, the scenery along the Côte d'Azur is wonderful, as the train runs along the coast past yacht-filled harbours, beaches, rocky inlets and millionaires' villas.

On arrival at Nice in the early evening, it’s just a short 150 m stroll to the 4* Excelsior Hotel in the musicians district.  A typical Riviera Belle Epoque building, it is now completely modernised in a lovely contemporary style and has a peaceful garden with a summer bar.  In an ideal location a short walk from the Promenade des Anglais and the beach.
  • Day 4 On Monday depart Nice at lunchtime travel on the TGV to Lyon train through the Provencal coastline and countryside to pick up the direct Eurostar to London, arriving into St Pancras train station at 10 pm.
